If It Can Happen To Me, It Can Happen To You

This morning, I went to my primary computer – which was on all night, by the way – and I saw a message that Windows wasn’t activated.  I went to settings and sure enough, I saw the message you see above.

Keep in mind that my computer has been activated since I purchased it and there have been no hardware changes for over a year.  (Changing hardware, e.g., hard drive, motherboard, can cause a problem with activation.)  Simply out of the blue, Windows 10 Pro is showing that it’s not activated.

I contacted Microsoft, chatted with a tech, then allowed him onto my computer.  (I did this because, being a Microsoft Partner myself, I knew that this was really Microsoft.  Remember, never let anyone onto your computer unless it’s us or without checking with us first.)  After checking a variety of things, the tech was silent for some time and then came back with this message:

In other words, other Windows users are experiencing this problem today, too.  As often happens, none of our other Windows computers are affected by this issue – at least not yet.

If you get the notice on your computer today that it’s not activated, don’t panic.  Just continue to use your machine and, hopefully, Microsoft will have a fix soon.
