It’s the holiday season and over the last few days, my Inbox as been inundated with fake emails. Above is a screenshot of one I’ve received a number of times.
For those that don’t attend our live seminars, let me point out a few reasons this email is fake. First, if I have an Amex card (I do), American Express knows my name. Emails sent to me would have my name, not “Dear Card Member.” For this reason alone, I would delete this email knowing it was fake. However, there’s more, if that wasn’t enough to convince you.
If I place my mouse over any of the links in this email, this is what I see:

As you can see, if I were to click, I’d be taken to scsustateclub.com. Doesn’t sound much like American Express, does it? (Don’t go there, by the way.)
Now, you have two reasons to delete the email. But, let’s say you’re hard-headed and believe everything that’s on the Internet. Here’s one more reason to delete the email:

An email from American Express would not be coming from charter.net, would it? Again, if you haven’t deleted this email by now, you need to!
Finally, be careful. As I mentioned, I’ve been receiving a ton of fake emails this week. This one regarding American Express is just one sample. I could show lots more!
