Recently, we’ve been getting a large number of people logging in to our Remote Technical Support to ask whether a particular email is legitimate or not. The email appears to be from Microsoft but people aren’t sure if it really is. (To see a slightly larger view of the email, just click on this picture:)
One of the reasons people question the email is because the salutation simply reads “Hello,” – in other words, it’s not personalized. Despite that being a red flag when it comes to the validity of an email, this particular email is legit. It really is from Microsoft and they are simply informing you of the changes they’ve made to the Microsoft Services Agreement. If you read it closely, the email does not ask you to click to fill in any personal information and there’s nothing in the language of the email to cause you panic or fear.
At the bottom of the email, there are three buttons which you could click to read further information. If you place your mouse over any of the three, you’ll see that they are going to direct you to mmed.microsoft.com. (The URL has additional information but this is the domain and enough to let you know you’d really be going to a Microsoft site.)

What should you do with the email? It’s simply an information email; it can be deleted once you’ve decided to either read the information provided through the buttons at the bottom or ignore them.
