Back on November 18, 2018, I wrote the post “R.I.P. Facebook.” I explained how I got birthday notices from Facebook for five people that day but two of them were deceased. I shared a Facebook link which explains how to use the settings to allow someone to take care of your Facebook account after you have left us.
Today, I got another notice for someone who is no longer with us. When I saw this notice, I realized they also have an Instagram account. I wondered how you handle an IG account in the case of someone’s passing. So, I went digging and I found the answer. In IG, you can have an account memorialized or, if you’re a family member and can prove it, you can have the account removed.
