I Know How Some Preachers Must Feel

Christianity religion concept. Icons of people preaching Christianity.

If you know me or read my Bio (right column of this blog), you’re cognizant of the fact that I’ve been working on computers since 1983. I bought my first personal computer that year and as soon as I plugged it in, I was hooked. There was no Internet back then and only dial-up modems that connected to things called Bulletin Boards.

So, we’ve come a long way in the computing world since I first fired up my Commodore 64. As I look back through the years, I realize that there are a number of subjects that I’ve kept pounding on. Thinking of my counterparts in the religious world, I’m sure they must get exhausted at times preaching the same message over and over to people who refuse to take their advice.

Although you’ve heard this from me before – perhaps a million times, I have to keep saying it until you get it. In computing, there are three important things you must do: back-up, back-up, back-up. I used to share this because “all hard drives crash.” Today, however, there’s another reason to push this into our brains – Ransomware.

Just yesterday, one of my business email customers (Meaning: I manage their email accounts but don’t supply the rest of their IT support.) logged-in to Remote Technical Support because they had been hit by Ransomware and many of their users’ email accounts were corrupted. While I worked with their IT department in getting Microsoft Outlook back up and working, all previous emails, calendar items and contacts were lost. Without a backup, these items would be lost forever.

Please give me the opportunity to put this sermon topic to rest. If you don’t have online backup for your laptop, desktop or all-in-one computer, obtain it now. Click below and get started. (Keystone Computer Concepts may be compensated if you purchase but we would still want you to do this even if we weren’t.) If you already have online backup, give yourself a pat on the back!
