When I write a post, I try to make the title enticing enough that a casual viewer will want to read my commentary. Still, I try to make sure the title reflects what’s actually in the post. It’s true, I can sometimes be a bit abstruse when it comes to the title. Usually, though, most people can figure out the relationship.
Recently, however, I wrote a post where feedback from readers indicated that they missed the connection. In my post, “It’s A Blessing And A Curse,” no one seemed to understand how the title had anything to do with the subject of the writing. Let me explain and you might get an idea of how my brain works! LOL
First, the title: if you’re a Monk fan, you are familiar with the title. Mr. Monk often referred to his ability to figure out what happened by issuing that statement.

Next, how did that relate to what I wrote about the Spanish Flu and Covid-19? Here’s the connection: a blessing is having smart phones, something that was not available in 1918 and 1919. Smart phones allow us to communicate easier, keep up with the latest pandemic information and so much more. The curse is having smart phones that become the carriers of germs and disease when they are not disinfected often enough or properly.
So, there’s the explanation for those who didn’t get the connection. Maybe I was a little too abstruse this time?
