Are you making any of the 3 common email mistakes we see all the time? According to Statista, 306.4 billion emails were sent and/or received per day in 2020. Yes, you read that correctly – billions! With that in mind, it’s important that you eliminate mistakes with your email. You need to do this for the sake of security and for organizations.
Mistake #1
The first mistake we see so often in Remote Technical Support is actually a mental error:

Seriously, we hear this and variations of it all the time. In reality, your email should have one of your toughest, most secure passwords to keep hackers out!
Of The 3 Common Email Mistakes, This Is Mistake #2
I admit it. This is one of the things that frustrates me the most. In fact, when I come across this problem, I usually ask myself why I’m still in the computer business! What is mistake #2? It’s when computer users get a new email address or a new phone number and don’t change those items in various accounts.
Here’s an example: you lose/forget your email password. Or, you got hacked and a hacker changed the password. You click on Forgot Password and your email provider wants to send a code to your phone and/or email. Wait! You don’t have that phone number any longer. Or, you haven’t used that email in years! Now, you’re locked out of recovering your password.
Moral of the story: if you change phone numbers and/or emails, go into your accounts and change your password recovery information.
Mistake #3
The last of the 3 common email mistakes I’m writing about has to do with two-step authentication. This process sends a code or a message to your mobile device before it allows you to log in. The theory is that a hacker is most likely not going to have your mobile device.
Almost every email provider now offers two-step authentication. You absolutely should be using it. And, using an authentication app is better than using text messages (SMS).
