The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Let me quote from Part 1: “As is true with most things in life, each of these search engines has its share of advantages and disadvantages.”

In Part 1, I listed ten search engines. We covered the advantages and disadvantages of three of them: Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo. You might wonder why I don’t list the pros and cons for all of them. Here’s why. Two of them (Yahoo and AOL) actually use the Bing search engine. One of them (StartPage) runs on Google’s search. Two others (Baidu and Yandex) are used by those in foreign countries – China and Russia. The Ask search engine (Ask.com) which uses a question-and-answer format has faded tremendously in use because of its limited index and an over-abundance of advertisements. The biggest advantage of the final search engine (Ecosia) is that they use profit to plant trees when you search.

To Sum It Up

Ultimately, which search engine you use depends on your personal preferences and your specific requirements. You may find that you’ll wind up more like me. I use four or five different search engines depending on what I am looking for. You do cut down on your ability to find things when you simply stick with one search type. Give some of these other search engines a try!
