The Secret Service…

Computers and the devices which have followed were never meant to be just fancy typewriters and searching machines.

Right now, I’m reading the Clint Hill book, Mrs. Kennedy And Me. Well, not actually reading it – I’m listening to it. If you’re like me, finding time to read books is tough. Climbing into bed at night would be a perfect time to read except that I’m usually exhausted and my eyes close just minutes after picking up a book.

A good alternative for me is Audible books. Instead of reading Mr. Hill’s account of his days as the Secret Service agent protecting Mrs. Kennedy, Jeremy Bobb is reading it to me. Throughout the day, when I have some time between tasks, I can just hit my Audible app and listen to the book.

One of the great things about Audible is that I can move from one device to another and start listening at the exact place in the book where I left off last time. When I’m in the car, I use the Audible app on my phone. When I’m in the shop, I simply use the Audible app on my computer. I can stop and start it as I wish. I can change chapters, I can bookmark places I want to review later and I can move forward or backward by 30 secs simply with a click or touch (depending on the device).

Audible has a wide selection of audio books including Audible originals and even some books for free. The $14.95 a month cost pales in comparison to purchasing books in hard cover or even most paperback book versions.

Computers and the devices which have followed were never meant to be just fancy typewriters and searching machines. Use your computing devices to expand your knowledge and bring back the enjoyment of good books. If you’re not already an Audible member, I encourage you to make use of their free trial offer.
