If you own an Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Plus or Echo Show, you’re already familiar with Alexa. She’s who you talk to when you ask these devices questions or when you ask them to perform a task – like turn on a light. (Don’t own an Echo product yet? Why not get one now? Just click HERE to see the selection.)
You probably know things you can ask Alexa like: “Alexa, what’s the temperature in Austin, TX?” but there is a long list of things you can say to her. Here’s a list of some of the more uncommon ones:
- “Alexa, tell me a poem by Robert Frost.”
- “Alexa, quiz me on animal sounds.”
- “Alexa, what is the chemical symbol for potassium?”
- “Alexa, how old do you have to be to drive in Wisconsin?”
- “Alexa, how much caffeine is in a shot of espresso?”
- “Alexa, when was Generation X born?”
- “Alexa, how many syllables are in supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?”
- “Alexa, can you talk like Yoda?”
- “Alexa, tell me a hockey joke.”
- “Alexa, when is the sunset tonight?”
Of course, you can also talk to her about Amazon purchases:
- “Alexa, order AA batteries.”
- “Alexa, what’s in my cart?”
- “Alexa, add boxed chocolates to my shopping list.”
- “Alexa, add bananas to my shopping list.”
There are tons of interactions you can have with Alexa. Not sure what will work and what won’t? Just try it and if Alexa can’t handle it, she’ll tell you!
Now that you’re done reading this post, go try some of the questions and commands I’ve listed above. Have fun!
