In my last post, I talked about using Microsoft Publisher to create posters and flyers. (It can create more than these two items but they were the focus of my writing.)
I see a ton of flyers and posters for different events and I have a discerning eye when it comes to the layout, spelling and grammar. However, even as important as these components are, the number one concern with any poster or flyer is the five (5) Ws.
You remember them, don’t you? Who, What, When, Where and Why. Every flyer and/or poster for an event should contain these five items. I’ve seen people create beautiful flyers yet they are ineffective because they are lacking one or more of these items. Let me show you an example of a proper poster:

Let’s look at the poster and see if the five Ws are there.
As you can see, this poster has all the elements. As an aside, always include the zip code of your location. This is important in today’s world of GPS on phones and in cars.
Good reminder. I need to find time to follow your blog. Thank you!
