In my post, Third-Party, I used the acronym “IMHO.” In the computer world, we use a ton of acronyms. Some of them are pretty easy to figure out, most are not. IMHO is a chat-related acronym and the fact that some readers didn’t know what it means, led me to the idea of sharing some other chat shortcuts with you. I’m not including LOL (Laughing Out Loud) and ROFL (Rolling On Floor Laughing) since you probably already know those two. Here, though, are some others:
- BRB – Be Right Back
- IDK – I Don’t Know (sometimes, I Didn’t Know)
- TTYL – Talk To You Later
- LTNS – Long Time No See
- FYI – For Your Information
- FYEO – For Your Eyes Only
- NSFW – Not Safe For Work
- SMIM – Send Me an Instant Message
- EOD – End Of Day
- MYOB – Mind Your Own Business
- AFK – Away From Keyboard
- IRL – In Real Life
- OTL – Out To Lunch
- BTW – By The Way
- OMW – On My Way
- SWAK – Sealed With A Kiss
- MTFBWY – May The Force Be With You (You Star Wars fans should know this one!)
- L8R – Later
- YOLO – You Only Live Once
- SWAG – Stuff We All Get
- HMU – Hit Me Up
- SUP – What’s Up?
- SITD – Still In The Dark
- JK – Just Kidding
- GMTA – Great Minds Think Alike
- SMH – Shaking My Head (I use this one a lot! LOL)
- OMG – Oh My Gosh (Gosh for those of us who prefer to not be hit by lightning!)
- BFF – Best Friends Forever
- POS – Parent Over Shoulder
- KOS – Kids Over Shoulder
Did you know them all? Can you think of any that aren’t listed?
