Whether you own an Android phone or an iPhone, one of the biggest frustrations is the alphabetizing of apps. Both the Android and the iPhone have built-in features that will put apps in alphabetical order. Only, if you use the feature, you’ll lose all your folders. Now, I don’t know about you but I like to group my apps into folders where all the apps have something in common.
If you look at the picture above, you’ll see my Home Screen – which is all folders except for the App Store. My folders include things like “Music,” “Travel,” “Financial,” and “News and Weather.” Some of my folders have as many as 15 apps inside. The last thing I want to do is have those apps pulled out of the folders.
With that in mind, I’m going to suggest that your best bet for alphabetizing your phone apps is this: create the folders you want and place apps within those folders; then, manually alphabetize the rest of the apps. It’s a real pain the first time, trust me, I’ve done it. However, once everything is in alphabetical order, just make sure when you add an app, you either place it in the proper folder or put it in the correct alphabetical order if it doesn’t belong in a folder.
Bite the bullet and do it!
