At this past Saturday’s seminar, I mentioned an app that can notify emergency help if you are in a car crash. A number of people have asked me for more information about the app so, here it is!
The app is called Noonlight and it’s more than just a car crash app. It’s an emergency app that you can use anytime you think you are in danger. I actually installed the app on my smartphone this morning, set up my profile and purchased a plan. I then tested it to see what happens.
First, I got text messages from the Noonlight staff. Then, they told me they were going to call. I spoke with them – the woman who called was very nice – and explained that I was testing the app. She told me she was glad everything was all right. She also texted that same sentiment after our phone call ended.
So, how does it work? You install their app on your phone, give it access to your location and then set up an account. If you want the crash protection, you do have to purchase the Plus account which is $4.99 a month. I purchase the Premium plan which is for the whole family and it is $9.99 a month.
After I set up my profile, I placed the app icon on my main smartphone screen. This way, if I needed it in a hurry, I wouldn’t have to scan through a dozen screens to find it. When you open the app, there’s a button that you can press. (See the photo above.) As long as you hold the button in, nothing happens. Once you let go, you have 10 seconds to enter your PIN and cancel the alarm. If you don’t cancel the alarm and you don’t respond to their text messages and/or phone call, they call for emergency help. In the case of a crash, the app automatically detects if you’ve been in an auto crash and calls for help.
This app is just one more example of how technology works to improve our lives or, perhaps in this case, save a life.
By the way, it works with Alexa, Google Home and a number of other services. In the case of Alexa and Google Home, if you were home and unable to reach your phone, you could tell Alexa or Google Home to send for help.
I’m not associated with Noonlight in anyway so I won’t get a kickback if you do, but I highly encourage you to get this app. Just click on the banner below to visit their website.
